USB Drive Edges Copper!

SORRY ABOUT THE TITLE

So today I was repairing a USB drive when I realised this! 

I'm really stranged out about this. I got my multi meter out and tried to see if it was some sort of metal... Of course I couldn't really tell as copper is very low reactive metal. Do you think this could be part of the circuit board? I need geniuses please!

Those are just tabs to help support the connector. That way not all of the strain goes through the data and power pins when you pull on the connector. 

If you look at that PCB it does look like at least that one side is grounded through that pin. HDMI ports use the same type of pins.

Since the tabs are all broke off, and those supports look broken too. That just looks like a "normal" molex brand connector.

Not sure where to get parts like that in UK(Judging by your use of cheers) but the part number should get you there.

Adding on from yesterday, I soldered and there has been a few major things from this. 

1. Okay so I plugged it in (after soldering) and well it said the usb malfunctioned and I had further inspection and it wasn't actually soldered so well on one side. 
2. So I took it out but I think had just gotten branded on my fingers as the usb was probably over 100 degrees to the touch. Also it was smoking a little bit too. 
3. I thought it was some bad soldering so I just kept on messing around with it until Windows now said power surge on the usb and disabled my front panel usbs! This time it was hot but not smoking.

So does anyone have any idea why this usb was causing a fire hazard? Like my soldering iron was at 360⁰C but would that cause damage to the board aswell as the usb and was there a certain solder I was supposed to use? I can't get my head around this please help!
