AIO storage (yes, really)

owosoup

I've been buying components for a ryzen 7000 build. The problem is, of course, the motherboard price: I want to wait for the "early adopt" tax to go down.
I've already bought the AIO for the CPU (EK-Vardar D-RGB 240mm) and I don't know if storing it for a long time will have negative effects.

Will pre-applied thermal paste deteriorate?
Should I put it somewhere extra dry?
Will keeping it in the box prevent most problems of long-term (a few months) storage?
please tell me if there's something I should know too.

Just let it sit in its box somewhere safe. As long as it won't fall down a cliff, get driven over by a car or shot out of a mortar it's going to be just fine. 😉

i mean.. technically having it sit in the box is largely the same as having it sit in a powered down computer..

so, under your desk?

also -- assume that it's been on shelves or in transit for months before it arrived at your doorstep, having it sit in the box a while longer wont change a thing.

Technically the box is much better at keeping the thing in good order : no dust, no heat, fans not spinning, pump off, etc ... 😄

Eww pre-applied thermal paste should be a sin don't use it either way get that extra 1c with MX4. Just kidding... but I personally would replace it if it sits for more than a year

Just put it in a closet or something

Yeah but I recommend rotating the box once a month or something to slosh the fluid around.
