You know it and love it. Responsible for some of the most popular games ever, Source Engine is truly iconic. What's your favorite Source game? It can be original Source or Source 2! My favorite is probably either the Portal series or Half Life series!

Half Life 2, and the two Episodes are for sure my favourites, but Garry's Mod is just behind! 🙂

Gmod is also really good! Just remember Gmod's most basic props are from HL2, and even some game files are near identical to the ones in HL2!

Oh yes, Gmod uses the assests from other Source games. The more Source games you had access to, the better Gmod was.

I like Gary's mod but modern g mod is pretty uh ... Dumb. 

 

2008~2010 Gmod was less rigid so you could actually do stuff on servers. 

 

Portal 2 is so much fun. 

Counter strike is good when I want to play strategically with friends. 

 

This is kinda like asking "what's your favorite all time classic movie." Like, all time classic movies are all phenomenal.

There really aren't that may to choose from, since Valve never decided to make it a viable easy option for indie studios without forking over quite a bit of money for additional middleware licenses. Not quite an in-house product, but not accessible and flexible enough like Unreal.

 

To buck the trend, because hey, literally everybody will mention one of Valve's own first-party games, I'll say Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and The Stanley Parable (at least the original, before it was ported to Unity).

Half-Life 2 of course... Was my #1 story game right until i played  Horizon Zero Dawn and it took the 1st place. Now HL2 shares the 2nd spot with Cyberpunk 2077.

Team fortress 2. The only reason why I got Orange Box and my own Steam account. Until that point in 2008 we had shared account with my brother (from 2004 I think). It was fun game to go solo. At least compared to alternatives, Battlefield and CoD.
