Comcast question

Go to solution Solved by Moredeath,

1. Yes it will work, 2. I know someone with 8 cable boxes in their house on Xfinity, 4 should be fine

Let me just say that using Comcast's forum is a pain in the ass, and I will never use it.

Anyway, my grandma might be getting their HD Preferred plan on the X1 platform, since she'll have faster internet, and she will pay less per month (right now she has Dish). But she has two questions.

1. Will everything work, since she has all analog, tube-TV's. She might get a modern TV, but I doubt it.

2. How many TV's can she have? She has 4, and all of them are in different parts of the house (except for one by the living room TV).

I hope you know you're probably going to get raped on box rental fees.

She's paying $170 a month for 1.5 Mbps, 384 Kbps (usually about 1000/40) and one of the shittiest TV lineups ever. Her internet goes out every 15-20 minutes, TV goes out when it mists outside, and her boxes don't work half the time. And even after 12 months, she'll still save $30.

Yeah

He would be much better off getting a cable card for a low power PC and using TV Headend to distribute the TV to low power devices that are connected to the televisions in the house. I do this with my Sky TV subscription so that I dont have to rent multiple boxes.

I also stream it over the internet when I am staying away from home.
