Hi, I've been playing a lot of COD MW2 since it's release on friday, but unfortunatelly I'm experiencing a lot of driver crashes (sometimes back to back driver crashes when joining a lobby). Other times, but not as often, I get full system hangs, where I have to physically restart the PC. I've got driver crashes and system hangs before, but not as severe. Also, sometimes when pressing the power button on my case nothing happens (when turning on my PC) and I have to switch off the power supply and then switch it back on, then it works. Is it possible that my PSU is not up to the task anymore? I'm running RX 6900 XT (stock settings), Ryzen 7 5800X with PBO enabled and a Corsair RM750X 2018 model year. Temperatures are in the low to mid 70s on GPU and mid to high 60s on the CPU when gaming.

Also I will probably upgrade to RX 7900 XT or 7900 XTX (whatever they gonna call it), what PSU would you recommend?

To us were left the wonders of creation: Beasts of air, water, earth... and steel.

Drivers are updated to 22.10.2. BIOS version for Crosshair VIII Hero is 4201, so everything is updated.

I will just say this first but it's not uncommon to have crashing issues with the new MW2 as alot of people are having crashing issues.

I've heard of that yeah, so you think this is game related?  Because I would think only the game would crahs, not the driver too.

Those cards haven't been released so nobody knows what their power requirements are going to be yet. Keep an eye on reviews when they come out that also test power consumption of the cards.

Do you need to upgrade? Your 6900XT is a pretty powerful GPU already.

Your driver crash isn't related to the power supply. If it's only happening in MW2 it's most likely an issue with the new game causing it to crash, either a game update or a driver update should fix it eventually.

I would say if the problems are isolated to mw2 then I wouldn't worry about it as its a known issue and it's not like you can fix the game issues as it's software related.

We will see if the problem persist after first few updates. If it's software related, I hope they fix it soon.

Thank you for your input. I am fully aware that I don't need an upgrade, but life is short so why not 😊 I like to upgrade my GPU every generation, and my CPU after 2 generations. Some would say its a waste of money, but I like to tinker with high end hardware or PCs in general. And I can sell my old hardware and get some money back, so it's not that bad.

Well, the game is awesome in my opinion, I'm having a lot of fun, but I hope they fix these issues soon. Looking forward to Warzone aswell.

Asus Crosshair VIII Hero only has X570 chipset if not mistaken.

Anyway, @sthzjEee Your PSU seems very powerful for your build and I think it'll handle RX 7900 XT well. If rumours are correct, the RX 7900 XT consume close to 400W only, so you still have quite a headroom. Still, remember it is just 'rumours' so it can varies when the actual product hits the market. Also, AIB may crank the power higher, so keep an eye on that too. Should you still use AM4 system, you don't really need to worry about inadequate PSU power of your current PSU unless you power the system with industrial high powered fan.

Chipset driver friend. Not chipset model. I asked if he used the latest chipset drivers, gpu drivers and BIOS version, he replied only about the GPU drivers and BIOS, he did not mention the chipset drivers.
