Hi there all,

I would like your advice on the following matter.

I am planning to ditch my MeshifyV2 case with the 3950X and it and get a 13900K. But here's the catch.

I need it to fit in a hand baggage of 55 x 35 x 23 cm, it must be around 10kg MAX and because I want to take it as cabin baggage, AIO is out of the question so I have to go air cooling and airport security most likely won't let me pass with water in it.

I do not plan to overclock the 13900k.

My GPU is a 3090 RTX, blower very noisy but at least it will not blow hot air into the small case.

I have been looking at the NR200 and SilverStone Sugo 16. As for coolers the Scythe Fuma V2 seems to fit in these, maybe the Sugo 16 can take the Noctua.

If you have any suggestions, maybe another case or a different cooling solution I am happy to hear.

Thanks!

With a case that small, it's going to to be near impossible to do without water cooling given how much heat both of those generate. As someone with a hot blower card (Rx 480 reference) you also will have significant radiant heat as well.

The NR200 is a nice case and may be able to accommodate the required cooling. Just be wary of the height of the 3090, and the cooler, and using an SFF PSU. With the SFF, significantly overbudget, as sff PSUs can have issues with the transient spikes.

An i9-13900K(F) has very limited choices of air coolers. I'm not sure any of them would be a comfortable fit in a case that meets the size limitation.

I don't think the Scythe Fuma 2 rev B is up to handling the 253W Max Power of the i9-13900K.

If you wait for locked models expected in January a solution might be possible.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Early tests seem to suggest power limiting the 13900K saves a lot of power with relatively little performance loss so that might be an option.

You're card is only a 2 slot variant? I can only imagine the struggle that must go through trying to keep cool.

The Sugo is substantially smaller than the NR200. It gets my vote if you're trying to go small.

It's only 40mm width yes I tihnk it counts as 1,5 slot? In full load it can be extremely loud, but most of the times I power limit it to 50%, unless I play CyberPunk or something heavy.

Power limiting is a thing that I would most likely need to do. So far it seems the NR200 is the best alternative.

Another option would be aio and mount/demont when I would travel by plane. Would there be any problem with the LGA socket if I do so? Someone mentioned putting pressure/releasing pressure during mount/demount might damage the socket but it sounds a bit far stretched to me.

Any other case suggestions are welcomed

Thanks

Removing the cooler shouldn't be an issue, just don't remove the CPU from the socket.
