Want to get some fun games where two people can plan, against or with each other.

Need to be appropriate for a young (12 year old) audience. Not overly complicated. One of the kids has a learning disability so nothing that's too mentally challenging as I don't want him getting frustrated when having to read a load of text (He can just about read but not fast enough for gameplay)

I looked at NBA2k3 and some other EA titles but they are too expensive for someone who just plays the odd hour here and then.

Any ideas, ideally native ps5 games which I know limits the choice a bit

This is where PC would really help out, you could stream them into the living room or something. I pick up all sorts of co-op games all the time for a couple bucks on sale on Steam.

As mentioned It Takes Two is a pretty good one. I played a A Way Out with my son, it was pretty fun, but you're breaking out of prison, so depending on what you expose your kids to that maybe a bit on the "mature" side?

Do they have the Lego games for PC? All of those are excellent games for kids or adults honestly, and offer co-op experiences. Some are better than others, but they are all fun. I own and have played all of these with my son. Lego City UnderCover is a pretty good start and has tons to do in it, if you want a random suggestion. I've always liked the original Lego Marvels Super Heros.

If we throw PC games in the mix, I have a ton of those.

I have a high spec gaming rig but not in this house. 😞

I give them a little bit of slack with what they can play. Not letting them play anything where you kill people in blood!

Never even thought of a lego game. Will look. The problem is as always there are 4 kids and they all want a go so have to share the controllers round every 20 minutes to avoid tantrums! Hence why I'm looking for games you can have a quick blast on!

Things like Sonic racing were fun, obviously not a ps5 title but something we could all play

Trine - ideally 3 players , but I think it would work between 2 - there's 3 characters each with specific skills , you can play single player and switch between the 3 as needed, and I think with 2 players one can choose to switch to the third as needed.

It's relatively light on the puzzles so should be easy.

Worms reloaded, revolution , previous one (I think worm armageddon)  can be played in turns or possibly co-op style with I think up to 4 players (each player has a group of worms and has to attack the other group of worms and make them fall down in the water or from high places with wacky weapons)

Jamestown  stylized vertical scroller (you're in a plane shooting enemies coming from above)  ... I think it can be played co-op

dungeon defenders  - rpg with online coop

castle crashers  cartoonish rpg adventure beat'em up :

dungeon siege 2  - old rpg but has party based  co-op

Left 4 dead 1 and 2 are ideally for 4 players , could use 2 and 2 bots but probably a bit tough for 12 year olds (shooting, zombies etc) and especially for disabilities.

Look into some racing games .. also Steam has filters you can use to browse games that have cooperative,  local and party game modes etc etc

For many couch co-op games, you don't need a real high-spec machine. We have lots of game nights actually and play many 4-player games. I use a Steam link still, and play in the living room using 4 xbox controllers.

Here's a few:

Heave-Ho - 4 Player - Can be picked up on sale for less than $5

ibb & obb - 2 player, can be picked up for a couple bucks on sale

Lovers in a Dangers Space Time - 4 Player - can be picked up for ~ $8

Move or Die - 4 Player - Can be picked up for ~$4

Moving Out - 4 Player - $6 on Sale

Overcooked 1 - 2 both are 4 players you can get both for like $10 at this point on sale. The new one is $20 on sale. Fun Co-op titles.

Retimed - 4 player - ~$9

Shift Happens - 2 Player - Under $2 on sale - This one was a fun game, but has some tricky puzzles in spots that may frustrate younger kids. You might need to help them in spots?

SpeedRunners - 4 player - $4 - This one really is fun. Great pick up and play, as it's quick.

Stick Fight - 4 players - $2 on sale - My son loves this one. I'd imagine most kids would.

This Means Warp - 4 Player - $14 - Sort of an updated version of Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time? Its Fun though.

Tools Up - 4 Player  - $8 on sale - Similar concept to Overcooked.

Totally Reliable Delivery Service

Unravel Two - The first was good, but the second is Co-op. $5 on sale. Worth a look.

Untitled Goose Game

Ultimate Chicken Horse - One of our favorites.

We played all the way through a way out, I don't remember any killing or blood but looking at the preview there definitely appears to be fighting. It's mainly just escaping from Prison, so sort of working together to sneak through things. It makes you work together. It was a good game.

Thanks so much for that. I used to love worms! Toally forgot about it!

I gave Gran Turismo but not sure if there is a 2 players option. Same with Forza although I only have it on PC
