At 1080p it would definitely become a bottleneck, in 1440p not as much.

I think if you want to squeeze out the most out of 1500 USD you should get something like this.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XzPLqm

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($419.00 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Zotac GAMING AMP Holo GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB Video Card  ($899.00 @ B&H)
Power Supply: MSI MPG A850GF 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($114.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1432.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

3080Ti is a placeholder for 4080 12GB or 7800XT whichever is a better deal after they actually come out.

Budget (including currency):

~$1500 USD - Willing to push that if it'd definitely be worth it. This is for the entire PC, not just the GPU btw.

Country:

United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Games - I plan to play the Monster Hunter Series, Destiny, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, Stray, and Hollow Knight. There's more to that list, but I thought I'd include at least 1 from most of the graphical styles to give an idea of the most and least graphically intense games I'd be playing.

Programs - I create content with DaVinci Resolve, taking full advantage of the Fusion tab (for those that don't use the program, it's the photoshop of video editing so it can get graphically demanding fast). I also record with OBS, which will be open alongside with games at settings that ensure great quality footage.

Workload - I won't be playing games, video editing, and recording at the same time (that's partly because I can't really do that on my current setup) unless I get bored and start up a game and feel too lazy to press two keys on my keyboard to close out of DaVinci (it happens occasionally but I don't think it should be too much of a determining factor).

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I've already built a pc before so I have these:

  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • MSI GTX 1060 6GB
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Fan
  • 1TB Samsung 970 Evo
  • 2TB Seagate Barracuda HD
  • 500W EVGA Pwr Supply
  • ASRock B550M Pro4 Motherboard
  • 2x Corsair Vengeance (3200/3600?) DDR4 Ram
  • Corsair 4000D Airflow Mid-Tower Case

I currently am cool with and play at 1080p and ~60fps, but want to push to a 1440p res with 60fps still being good for me. As for the title, I was wondering if a 2080ti would serve great for my budget as I saw cards from around 350-400 compared to the 550-700 of the 3080. I know the 2080ti is still a great card, even in the presence of the 30 series cards, but I wanted to know if that extra cost and boost would benefit me in the long run? Lastly, this is all in preparation for spending in November, around Black Friday, and December, when the Christmas deals kick in, though I'm totally down with buying from now until then. Any help and tips are appreciated!

Why don't you wait for next-gen? Grab a 850W PSU on black friday deals and wait till Q12023 for GPU upgrade.
