My RTX is too hot?

Imago
Go to solution Solved by WereCat,

That's to be expected with blower. The temps are fine.

I just bought an HP NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Blower Style, it's an OEM card from some pre-built PC. The GPU is great works perfectly but I have the feeling it gets too hot reaching 83C°.

The blower seems to work properly, the card sends a colossal amount of very hot air (it almost scorches me!) but still those temps looks pretty high to me.

I am wrong or those are the normal temps for that GPU?

My rig:

Case: Chieftec CI-01B-OP "The Cube"

Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H Rev.1

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X

Cooler: ThermalRight Assassin King 120 SE with TF-4 Thermal paste

GPU: NVidia RTX 2070 Super Blower Style (HP OEM)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 2x16

PSU: Itek BD700 DC-to-DC

83c is the boosting limit. So basically it's running as fast as it's allowed in it's thermal limit. They are fine up to 95c but will not go past 83c.

it's working as intended and well within it's limits.

Not necessarily, I mean it may throttle, OP has to check GPU clocks

Some more airflow in the case, or a small undervolt, may help

#JustBlowerThings

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Thanks everyone! 😃

I was thinking it needed a repaste and since it's my first blower style card I was a bit worried. I always did that on fan style cards...

I checked, it keeps boosting at 1900Mhz all the time even when it reaches 83 degrees so I guess you guys are right.

Thanks again!
