Im going to upgrade my CPU shortly, i have an i5 3470 and am looking to get either an i5 3570k or a i7 3770k. I wanted to know if it is worth it to get the i7 over the i5 i will be mostly gaming with odd video editing and stream here and there..i could do with i CPU that has a higher cache than my current one. Any other suggestions are welcome.

i5 won't be that much of an upgrade so i7.

Yeah get the 3770k if you dont want to change motherboard and it will really help your 780ti - i noticed a big difference between my i5 2500k and i7 4770k

There won't be much of an improvement anyway. If I was you, I would wait for a completely new line-up from Intel or get a second-hand CPu if you don't want to change your motherboard.

A 3470 is a good CPU. It may not sound as cool, but it gets the job done.

How about the cheapest hyperthreaded Xeon? It's pretty much a locked i7 w/o integrated graphics

I'd rather get a CPU i can overclock, i dont mind spending extra to get an i7 i should be able to sell the i5 i have now for around £70 or so. One of the main problems i have with my i5 is i cant have too many google chrome tabs open when im playing bf4 because it makes my cpu go to 100% load..

he allready have z77 board, so its kinda wastefull... and you only get "hyperthreaded 3470"

while he can have 4.7Ghz hyperthreaded easy on latest stepping, thats huge boost, like a 1Ghz on each core

The hyperthreading should help reduce the load while using chrome while playing BF4.
