Graphics Card with 5 ports

rangerkip

I am currently looking for a graphics card newer than my RX580 8gb, but it needs to have 5 outputs (USB C wont work for my needs). I have 4 monitors and like to have my VR headset plugged in too. Since I use an older Oculus Rift CV1, I need a native HDMI port, then atleast 4 more DP/hdmi/dvi ports. I am having a hard time finding one that supports 5 displays without USB C as the 5th.

Anybody know of any good candidates out there?

I think you're out of luck with that one. Can you not daisy chain any of the monitors to reduce the number of ports used?

I know my RX480 4gb and RX580 8gb, as well as a RX570 2048SP 8gb all supported 4 displays and my headset. (All had 2 HDMI, 2 DP, and one DVI).

Is arbitrary use of 2 graphics cards independently a thing? I have a cheapo Radeon single slot I might try for my third display.

I've not tried this, but can look into it, everything I have is native HDMI only though. So I will need to see if I can split DP into multiple HDMI.

Yeah if that doesn't work I thiiink you can run one off your CPU if you're running an Intel unit (or AMD APU).

Unfortunately I'm not, I'm probably going to have to look into an active DP extender, which is a gamble. It sucks that newer GPU's can't run like older ones, atleast in this one instance.

I'm running a Ryzen 5 2600, so no APU unfortunately, speaks miles to intels native integrated graphics support on most models. I might move up to a Ryzen 7 series with APU support tho.

The RX580 8gb is a lot better than the RX470 though, so I'll take the bump I currently have, it can run most games at 1080p High-ultra with 40-60fps. I'll live lol.

As far as i know most if not all gaming gpus support 4 displays max.

My current RX580 supports 4 displays and my VR headset at the same time, I've even tried 5 displays without issues. I hover around 5-15% load at idle with 4 displays tho. 50-60% with VR games, but can peak at 100% at times.

Since VR is mostly GPU bound, it's not too surprising lol
