ASUS PG42UQ monitor keeps turning off and on after 60Hz refresh rate

AMOA

Hi,

I got a new monitor with 120Hz refresh rate, but when I select anything above 60Hz the screen keeps turning on and off. It is not just refresh rate, if I increase color bit to 10 bit from 8, also causes this issue. I can get 12 bit color and 120Hz if I connect the monitor to my PlayStation 5, so I wonder if the issue is with my pc or the monitor.

I have already tried:

1. Connecting the monitor and the pc with the ps5 hdmi cable

2. Uninstalling the gpu driver and installing the latest driver from NVIDIA website

3. Updating the monitor to latest driver

Any help on how to fix this is very appreciated 😊

Are you using the cable provided in the box for both connections?

If you're using HDMI it's possible your GPU doesn't support 2.1.

If you're using DP it's possible your GPU doesn't support DSC.

One of these is needed to drive the display at 4K 120/138Hz.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
