Torchlight vs Diablo

So, the first and only Diablo game that I've played was III, wasn't really that into it.

 

I've got Torchlight 1 and 2 on Steam and just today got round to starting 2 and a few hours later I'm really enjoying it, I also notice that it is visually and gameplay wise extremely similar to Diablo III (some of the Diablo devs make Torchlight?), it just has a completely different aesthetic and different character types.

I also like the Pet system, I have a hawk called Claude :)

 

Thought I'd make a poll to find out what people here prefer, I'm expecting comments vouching for Diablo II, which is not a game I've played but will be interested to read people's opinions on in comparison to III.

Well, here's your first comment vouching Diablo II. I played it for like 8 years straight.. haha. Best game ever. :P

 

But, that's not what this topic is about. Though, as you guessed it.. I would go with Diablo III. I have both D3 & T2, but of course by bias for D3 kicks in and I can't possibly choose anything otherwise.

Torchlight is ok but I prefer Path of Exile.

? Having played all three I prefer Path of Exile, the skill tree is ridiculously enormous so the skill path is endlessly variable. Not to mention that it looks better and is far more interesting.

It's no different to anyone playing a multiplayer game constantly for months, you're just giving PoE a bad rap because it's a F2P.

what no im not its a great game your just over reacting its a fun free to play alternative to diablo and other games out there i was just making a joke over how much time is required it in

Looks "better"? No. You may like the visual style more... but PoE in no way "looks better" than D3. There's a certain level of polish on D3's visuals that PoE can only hope to someday compete with. But they'll have to go through Van Helsing, first...

 

Say what you will about cartoony graphics (which both games in the poll have, really), and a lack of "end game"... Diablo 3's combat and visuals beat Torchlight hands down, in my opinion.

"A picture is starting to form here... I wonder if it's accurate? Some pieces don't quite seem to fit. Or maybe I just don't like the way it looks."

IMO the games, in ranked good to not so good is. Diablo II, Diablo I, Torchlight 1, Torchlight 2, Diablo III.  With reaper of souls (i don't own, but I played and is fucking awesome IMO) and path of exile in the mix it would be

Diablo II, Diablo III (w/ ROS), Path Of Exile, Diablo I, Torchlight 1, Torchlight 2.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

I havent put enough time into poe or tl2 to comment on them but they are all fun from the brief amount I have played them. D3 ros is a lot of fun and the one I played the most. The new loot system and game mode make it a lot more enjoyable then when the game first came out.

I used to really like Diablo for some reason. Maybe it was because I was a kid and had not many other games to play. Now when I go back to it today I get really bored. I got bored with Torchlight too, never finished the first game let alone came close to finishing it. I guess I'm not into this genre.

 

So yeah from some one who is not into this genre. I would go with Sacred. Solely because that game is stupidly massive.
