Just to throw it out there, the Z420 with v2 motherboard will support an E5-2690 v2 10c/20thread @3.00Ghz ($29USD cpu) I'm using it to post this ^_^

Some people claimed you would need to but I got the cooler from a Z440 (which is a much better designed air cooler than the Z420 for like 20 bucks of ebay) and have had no issues yet. Only issue I get is my graphics card will overheat a bit if I dont use afterburner to run the fan at 100% (its an Nvidia Quadro somthing or other, roughly equivalent to a 1060 so not really meant for gaming)

 

this is the heatsink just search ebay or amazon for Z440 heat sink.

Wow!  Thanks for the tips.  The e5-2590 is crazy fast!  I haven’t been this excited over a computer in 17 years.  I have Doom Eternal running around 60 fps on Ultra Nightmare settings.

They started upgrading thier workstaions

Got Thinkstaion S30 with xeon E5 2643 V2 and 32 gib unbuffered DDR3 ECC and nvidia quadro 4000 with no storage for free!

They just wanted to throw it... imagine that?

Now im wating 4 dimms X32 gib 1866 mhz ECC reg memory for it and two 10 tb hard drive im hoping they will arrive alive
