My head will disappear from the asking questions scene after this FINAL purchase for my rig.
I've caught a sound-bug, now, I'm a bass-lover but I do enjoy clarity just as much, provided the song im listening to demands it.
The speakers have been chosen, but not yet purchased, and they're the Corsair SP-2500's. (Cemented Decision)

Now, i'm looking for a sound card to pair up with this future purchase, it's not going to be straight away, but it'll happen soon.

I obviously don't want to spend too much, so -$100 is what i'm aiming for, but i'm open for suggestions. $150+ forget about it.

EDIT: Australian prices too.

Going to sleep now, but will reply when the sun rises, thanks in advance.

I have the Sound Blaster Zx and I love it. Has a 600ohm amplifier, enough to power any headphones. I know youll be using it for speakers but always gotta plan for the future :D But if you're only using it for the SP2500's, you wont need a sound card.

I doubt it is capable of driving low impedance headphones correctly.

that sound card has a horrible 33ohm output impedance so it will distort the FR of headphones below 250ohm. whether this is noticeable depends on the headphones and your taste in eq.

EDIT: a soundcard is only worth getting if it has features your onboard doesn't, for everything else it's a product that has approached the end of it's life.

Already said... If you're getting the Corsair desktop speakers, you don't need a soundcard.

Sorry for the late reply, haven't gotten around to the forum recently.

But thanks, i've always thought that there isn't *REALLLY* that much difference, i mean, there will be some, but like one of linus' videos, it showed barely any improvement from onboard sound to a soundcard, so i was just throwing it out there.

Thanks though !
