Either the mouth or eyes feel off center--can't tell which direction he's facing.

Oh yeah, I think it's because the eyes are looking the opposite direction than the mouth is showing they should be.

No, it's because the mouth and eyes are either off-center or that the mask is symmetrical and ruins the perspective.

the mouth is too off center and doesn't follow the orientation of the eyes. the eyes are also different dimensions which makes it look slightly retarded tbh.

I manage to see the many iterations of it change when you were testing the colours. Heh

i reckon it looks alright, older one may have been better, but still decent. Maybe put a circle around it so it isn't just all black.
