I9 9900kf Cpu upgrade

Go to solution Solved by Mick Naughty,

I would get something newer. Replaced my 8700k as it struggled with an old gpu.
Got a 9900k fancy asus board for $450usd. Works well enough. Cheaper than me buying a 12700k and a nice new board, Id have to get something cheap to make it comparable price wise.

Is it worth it upgrade to i9 9900kf (for gaming)

Not really, especially given their pricing on the used market. It's basically just gonna be an extra 2 cores and 500MHz higher, so about 10% faster for $200.

if you do anything else that can benefit from a bunch of cores the 9900k has its place, but for gaming no

Even then, the 12400F has enough higher single core performance that it usually still match it in multicore workloads.

If the price is right, but really for the price of a used 9900K you can get a decent B660 board and a 12400f which will do better for games

Thanks
