Maximizing Gigabit home internet question

Hello ppl.

 

I just got Gigabit fiber internet. My Samsung S20 FE 5G is hitting 750ish down and 550 up mbps on wifi 6. My lenovo laptop with wifi 5 is hitting 600 down and 550 up. Since I just moved in I have not setup my desktop yet. I ordered a Asus WIFI 6 pceiX1 wifi card that will run off of AMD B450 chipset pcie lanes. I also have a media box that has CAT5E in-wall ports throughout the home that come from a CAT5E standard switch that is connected to the router. The WIFI router is plugged into one of those ports. Aside from having my desk not-ideally next to one of those ports is there anything else I can do to use all of that Gigabit internet?

 

The internet is used from streaming, downloading games, uploading huge graphic design files to a cloud storage.

You'll want wired networking. 

 

Through WiFi you might be able to max it out but through simultaneous connections from multiple devices IF the router is capable enough.

uploading/downloading big things is best done over cable, even if only for arguments of stability.

 

for the other stuff, honestly.. it's not worth the thousands of bucks you'll spend carpetbombing your house in high end access points to have good coverage.

The results you are already getting are what is to be expected.  Hitting Gigabit over WiFi is pure luck and being close to the router/Access Point.
