Good 3090 build

Go to solution Solved by jones177,

Intel 12th gen i7/i9, Intel 11th gen i9, Intel 10th gen i9 and Ryzen 5900x/9550x.

New Ryzen CPUs will be available 9/27 so it could be worth the wait.

Budget (including currency):

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Content creation, Gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I've found a very good listing for a 3090. What would be a good system that is good enough to not bottleneck the power of this GPU to much, while preferably not being the most expensive parts you can have?

I would go with a 12700F and good H670 board.

There is zero reason to go with a H670 board. They are too expensive for what they are. A B660 board is all he needs.

I’ve seen some very good H670 boards for nearly as little as a good b660. However, I’m in the US so ymmv.

It’s 750€ for the 3090 and I don’t really have a budget planned out, just trying to get a good bang for the buck build that makes good use of that kind of compute power and then see if it’s plausible for me

Thank you very much, this will come in very handy.I’ll think about the new Ryze, they look tempting from what I can tell

Looking on pcpartpicker there isn't much choice for H670. There is no real advantage going with H670 anyway unless for some reason you need the extra pcie lanes.

Most probably it is due the pricing going down due to upcoming 4k series (and possible AMD's high end counterpart) and overall increased availability of 3k cards (both new and used). My suggestion is to wait for even better pricing and/or next gen this fall (as rumoured).
