780, the minimal performance increase is not worth the big price increase IMHO

780ti - Will last a lot longer

Not at all. In three years time when we have cards which are twice as fast the difference between these two cards will be very insignificant. Both will be considered as former high end cards that are still competent enough to run games with reduced settings.

Wrong, It will, I never said there won't be better cards because that's a lie. It will last longer than most cards.

I never said that you said there won't be better cards.

All I said is that when there are much faster cards in a few years time the difference between an old 780ti and an old 780 will not be significant; because they will look so similar. My point was the 780ti won't last longer.

I doubt that, the 600 series has been doing pretty exceptional and won't cease to any time soon. but 780/780ti will still be kicking in the near future with SLI too keep them prime also the price drop making SLI a top solution. Never doubt the power of old cards mate especially SLI'ed old gen cards. like 660. I understand there will be much better cards but with the new cards costing the price of something like 2x780ti's. It would be safe to say that old gen's won't be going anywhere fast.

Dude, I didn't doubt the power of old cards. I know they will still be good when they are old.

All i'm saying is that the difference between a 780 and a 780ti will not be significant. If it's not significant now it will be even less so in future when they are old. i.e. a 780ti does not make you more future proof than a 780

On the contrary, for 1440p 780ti smashed the 780 when it comes to future proofing a monitor @ 1440p. It's all to do with what you can afford, I mean there is quite a gap from 780 > 780ti when it comes to anything over 1080p which is where monitors will be heading eventually. Also factoring in Overclocking and Brands like EVGA SC 780ti which pretty much shoots down the argument of 780 won't make you any more FP than a [ti]. Overclocking with water blocks can most likely increase the length of time a 780ti can keep up with the current pace of graphics.

You could say the same thing about overclocking a 780. The 780 is a very good overclocker. And at 1440p yes the 780ti is faster but it's not so much faster that it's going to be more future proof. Like I said in 3 years time both these cards will be considered in the same bracket. They will be considered as former high end cards which are still good enough for gaming. But spending 45% more money now on a 780ti thinking it's going to make you more future proof than a 780 is misguided, what will make you more future proof is saving that money up for a future upgrade. Because that money spent in the future will net you much more performance.

Im thinking the ASUS ? Or should i go for a Gigabyte "3-Fans"

I prefer the Asus DCII over the giggy.

On the subject of 780 vs TI. Another factor is style of PC, right now i'm starting a mini-itx build, so i dont have the option of sli later, so in my crazy mind, the TI makes sense.

780 if you want a single card as the price is great for what your getting the little bit more you get with the 780 ti isnt worth the largeish price increase unless you have the money to throw around.

From these images I can see a fairly large gap between 780 SLI and 780ti SLI in most games @ 1080p & 1440p as for netting more performance as I have said just wait until the next generation comes out and get 700 series highends @ a far lower price than an 800 series high end.
