Should I buy the OLED laptop?

This one. My laptop is like 12 years old, it's an Asus N53SV. I would like to be able to do video editing, 3d animation, and play some Quake on the go. I feel like this is perfect, finally a good screen. The problem is, I don't want to be an early adopter of this tech and find out a year from now there's a dead pixel in there.

Have they tested this enough?

Any display can fail and get dead pixels. 

Oled has been around for a bit, it's not really 'early adopter' anymore. 

 

It's an expensive piece of tech though and new gens are around the corner so it's up to you really.

Depends what you want it for. At $2500 base price the display won’t touch a MacBook Pro Mini-LED panel. The chips also won’t touch an M1 Pro in video editing either.

I’ve not wanted a laptop to game on forever, but I’m nearly sold on this oled setup for sure.  I wonder how long/if it will make it to 17" chassis specs, as that’s all I can suffer 😔

Im ok with 15" since it's more portable, the thing is, I would need to see more reviews, see how noisy and hot when running stuff and so on.

True that.  I spent the best part of 15years gaming on desktops and the last 6-7 with a 24" 1440p, I picked up a 17" cheapo used ASUS and can’t imagine using a smaller screen 😩

 

uh oh… I’m a screen snob I think 🤔
