Should i do this? I Have 12 gigs of ram in my garage 2x4 2x2 should i take 1 4gb and put it in this pc for 8 gb ram? so its 2 pc 8 gig or should i buy another 4 gig stick or should i keep it 12 gig 4 gig

Can you list the specs of the 2 machines?  

 

You have a PC in your garage?  Is it working?

 

You realize you gave us literally no information about the PC's, RAM, what you use them for, or even if the garage means a PC in the garage or in a box in the garage?

im so confused... why wouldn't you use the 4 gb stick you own vs buying a new one? what is your current pc specs/config?? can you clarify this to make sense?

I wonder if our parents thought this way about us?  Using 1/4 the words we need, ideas all jumbled, etc.

why aren't you trying before asking? worst case scenario: pc doesn't boot because the ram is mismatched.

I think he's a kid and uncertain.  May not be his PC's to mess around with and potentially thinking it may damage them. *shrug*.

 

I'd want my kid asking before he did things with PC's I bought.

its a working backup computer  amd athlon II x4 630 and it has 12 gigs 4 slots currently i am using a s5-1414 which has 2 slots

it works both are ddr3-1333 or PC3-10600u

Is 12 gigs a big difference from 8 gigs? If i had 2 computers exactly the same specs but on of the computers had 12 gigs and the other one had 8 gigs, will the 12 gig one performance be way higher then the 8 gigs? How noticeable will it be?

the difference will be "nothing" for all workloads where more than 8GB is not necessary, and somewhere between "notable" and "a lot" for workloads where more than 8GB is a necessity.

 

ram does not "perform", ram holds data. it's either big enough to hold everything, or it is not big enough to hold everything.
