Using 37 year old monitor as a second screen.

davidavidavid

I found this adorable little CRT monitor from 1985, and I thought it would be great for discord, and it works perfectly. The only problem is, it's analog and only accepts BNC connectors. So my current process for getting it all hooked up is HDMI -> HDMI to RCA adapter -> yellow video RCA to coaxial adapter -> coaxial cable with BNC fitting spliced into the end, which then obviously hooks into the monitor. I assume this will all work, but I have no idea, and I won't know for sure until the last adapter comes on Sunday. This string of adapters is obviously very kludgy, and I was hoping someone could help streamline it for me. The ideal line is HDMI to BNC adapter, with the digital to analog conversion happening in there. I found these on Amazon

but the reviews do not paint the best picture, and, I am hesitant to risk it. For three times the money, I found this on Amazon as well

https://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Design-HDMI-SDI-Converter/dp/B077QQSP5N/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1F6C33ZIJJQSZ&keywords=hdmi+to+bnc&qid=1659751220&sprefix=hdmi+to+bnc%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-7

and while the output is a BNC adapter, and the reviews are great, the signal is SDI which is digital.

Also, does anyone know what the SB input is for? Or what the OUT signal might be used for? Maybe daisy-chaining monitors for a security system setup? Thanks!IMG_4231.thumb.jpg.e5514c6645709ea5bdf864243550521f.jpg9503C414-40C3-4A13-BD1F-201D0EBEE11C.thumb.jpg.986088092af901eaf3199ec56de4ba9c.jpg

Revised, more info

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

MODERATE TO SEVERE AUTISTIC, COMPLICATED WITH COVID FOG

Due to the above, I've likely revised posts <30 min old, and do not think as you do.

yeah bnc is just a different connector for analog video so you wouldnt be using coax anywhere. i'd also suggest the adapters mentioned above
