Vessi Shoe material

Drakkhis

I cant seem to find an answer googling it, but the Material Vessi sneakers are made from an ultra-lightweight waterproof mesh knit from a vegan, no-leather polyurethane called Dyma-tex that was developed in-house.  Researching that comes up with "polyurethane industry strongly relies on fossil resources, as the main feedstocks used in polyurethane products synthesis (isocyanates and polyols) are obtained mainly from petroleum." So it seems that they have jumped on the band wagon to be Vegan but is that any good when you are using Oil based substance to create your material... I hope I am wrong about this but am curious if anyone has more information.

Huh? Vegan has nothing to do with fossil fuels.

Expecting them to be completely "earth friendly" is asking for a lot, but there are other brands that fill the niche. Though I think most still rely at least partially on petroleum based products.

maybe this is a new brand of hyper-vegan where they don't use any oil based products either because oil is made from dinosaurs and dinosaurs were animals, therefore oil is an animal product?

Well, I remember reading an article about a study claiming that fossil fuel contains plant based organic material, so maybe they go all the way to check which oil well only contains plant fossil and use it?

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

I'm just waiting for science to find out plants have feelings 😂

Haha, really though, I'm just fed up with people complaining about companies that try to move in a better direction. Like if they don't go all in, they should get bashed.

All Im saying is I believe it would be better to make a material that is Earth friendly than Jumping on the Vegan band wagon.

I know this was a joke, but Oil doesn't actually come from dinosaurs. Oil basically comes from Plankton and other small organic matter that dies and collects in sediment.

That study would be correct - oil is technically organic in the sense that it came from plankton and other simple organisms like that. Some of the plankton were simple animals (zooplankton), whereas some were plants (phytoplankton).
