You've got three options for finding out thermal pad thickness.

  1. Hope you get lucky with finding the exact necessary pad thickness for the laptop you've got. Good luck finding that.
  2. Get yourself a pair of calipers and measure the thickness of the pads already on the laptop and where they already are.
  3. Give up and just get thermal putty. It's more of a pain to clean up if you ever need to replace it or do other cooling work, but it's hard to mess up an installation (if you mess up with thermal pads you can kill the laptop, either by breaking traces or having stuff overheat, with thermal putty you can't break traces since it will just squish out if you apply too much).

Personally I just use thermal putty.
