Ah the good old CRT meme, there will always be that one person out of the ultrawide crowd that will pop out with hurr durr CRT best. That person being the special kid.

Why? CRTs are basically massive tubes inside a casing, it's like a tube amp for listening to music. Sure it can deliver good performance, but as a matter of fact, it comes with so many downsides - making it not worth the while at all. If I had to list some...

Tubes age
Tubes require warm up period
Tubes ask for clean mains power
They are heavy and massive
Radiation

Just to name a few, I can go on and make this list 10 instead of 5 downsides. I've had Diamondtrons too, about the best CRTs you could buy. There was a guy in the U.S who took Diamontron tubes from Mitsubishi and customized them to heavy amount of refresh rates. Even he gave up on them and moved on to LCD, and he did this over a decade ago. So should you.
