Mine is constantly sitting at 100% in games and bottlenecking my GPU more than necessary. I'm not seeing an option for it in the BIOS, only voltage, which I don't want to mess with. Should I use Ryzen Master? I've never used it but heard it can be inaccurate. Before the inevitable 'update your BIOS' comment - I need a bootable/formattable USB drive. How can you tell if a drive is capable of a BIOS flash/Windows install? Will this likely fix the issue? Is it worth just buying a new motherboard as this one is fairly low end?

Creating a boot drive just requires an USB stick ...

But anyway I don't think you can go far by just tweaking EDC on a 1st gen Zen chip

Any modern flash drive will work, most bios files are pretty small so it wont matter.

If you've never updated your bios then you probably have a pretty old version, idk if it would make edc available but its worth a try.

i think you have to enable pbo for that feature to be enabled, but make sure your cooling is good because i think increasing edc is basically overclocking.

also ryzen master isnt as reliable as bios, you shouldnt use it unless you have to.

Should also be worth noting that upgrading your BIOS beyond 3.10 is not recommended with a first generation "Summit Ridge" chip, as indicated in every BIOS beyond that one. https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M-HDV/index.asp#BIOS

That being said I don't think upgrading your BIOS is somehow going to magically raise your EDC. @RONOTHAN##would be able to speak to this better.

Afaik EDC is a metric used by PBO/stock frequency boosting thing AMD has. You can always try to clock manually not be limited by EDC of your motherboard. That being said, don't expect miracles, especially on that motherboard.

On a first gen chip like that you really should just do an all core manual overclock. 3.9GHz should be easily achievable with 1.35-1.4V, if you've got a good one 4GHz is about as much as you can reasonably hope for. That board isn't great but it can handle that CPU at that frequency.
