You guys think we'll ever see a 2 slot shroud sized 4070?

Looking for a GPU to do 4K within the confounds of my mini ITX case. 2.2 slots size is maximum.

40 series cards are just around the corner and as the next generation 70 series always performs better than last generations 80 card at 4k, my though is to just wait till 4070 is released and use that instead of my only option being a EVGA 3080 XC3 and I'd have to yolo with it as it's within a mm of my maximum allowance, or a reference 6800XT but that would be used and hard to come by. 3070's though there's plenty of 2 slot cards.

But here's the problem, have you seen the leaks? 4070 reported TDP to be juiced with 300W... that's basically the same as all the 6800XT's, 3080's and up which are nearly all 3 slot cards. Are 2 slot cards dead now? Especially for performance? Pretty much the only 300W+ cards that are two slot are either blower style, radiator cooled or is the Radeon 7.

Best case scenario two slot cards will I be subjugated to 4050 and maybe 4060 as they hopefully won't be 300W so 2 slots is enough? There's no way it'll get this bad... I'll just hope NVIDIA has a breakthrough and figures out a way to cool a 300W card without having to result to a blower card that's gonna sound like a jet engine.

Pretty sure there will be straight two (not 2.5 or higher) cards in the range you're looking at. We do have them this gen, though for ITX you'd prolly be better off with an RX 7000 over the said efficiency ratings of some higher end Lovelace GPUs. Blower is pretty much dead outside of some weird company decisions such as Gigabyte doing it on top end cards...

Any 2 slot coolers able to cool a 300W GPU? Anyone ever OC'd to see if they keep up?

Oh nice, didn't know RX7000 series cards are launching so soon, for some reason I was expecting q2 next year.

What have you heard of AMD's efficiency? Think they'll not come close to 300W so hopefully 2 slot coolers?

IDK a lot about it, but it's said probably going to be more efficient. Seasonic was listing 750 and 850W PSUs for some of the RX 7000s, so that looks to be a good sign. There have been some good 2 slot coolers in the previous gens. Really it's not about how many slots the card occupies, you can make a beast cooler in 2 slot form. Some older Kingpin cards come to mind... which made the heatsink go vertically up higher rather than horizontally towards the other slots - and those coolers fared with a lot of untapped power.

Yah watercooled ones /s

Gonna get a 4070 blower card for it's best in the market noise to performance metric /s
