Hey,

also there are a lot of threads about "What Laptop should I get" I wasn't quite able to find what I was looking for. I'm looking for a replacement for my Surface 6. It's been acting up, the 8 GB Ram and the limited fast sorage space really slow me down.

Besides a few details, I know pretty well what I want. But I can't find a fitting Laptop. So I need your help!

  • Budget: 1000 €
  • at least 16 GB Ram (expandable / not soldered)
  • at least 512 GB SSD Storage (expandable / not soldered)
  • good Battery life
  • Convertible - I don't need to take notes as often as I used to on my Laptop, but I don't want to give up that functionality I'm used to by now...
  • Workload: frequently CAD, Photoshop, ... but mostly "standard office work". Rarely Gaming (but I might again, if the laptop is capable for light gaming)

I was also thinking about, if a Thunderbolt port would be worth it, for the option of attaching an eGPU in the future. But that kind of (or maybe I'm wrong) clashes with the CAD workload. The workload would suggest more cores, meaning Ryzen, which would block the eGPU in the future.

I've been looking at:

  • HP ENVY x360 Convert 13-bd0780ng (Intel Version)
  • HP ENVY x360 Convert 13-ay1776ng (AMD Version)
  • Lenovo ThinkBook 14s Yoga ITL Mineral Grey, Core i7-1165G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, DE

Do you have any suggestions and thoughts?
