Which GTX/RTX gpus can be used in VMs atm?

I have 2070S and it works. How far up/down the stack can I go and still have the GPU work fine? Is there any rule of thumb or should I be looking (where) for that info for individual card?

 

I want to run a dedicated GPU in VM for Steam's remote-play.

anything modern will probably work the exact same as long as its set up properly.

Every GPU has drivers that work in VMs. If you're talking about vGPU, then it's higher end GPUs from the 900 series through the 20 series, which your card is apart of.

Do I understand correctly, that vGPU is only needed too share GPU between VMs?

vGPU is for sharing graphics cards to multiple VMs. VRAM is allocated and processing power is shared in vGPUs. VM when you got GPU passthrough enabled, has direct and sole control over the GPU.

Be aware that for vGPU you need a linux host with custom (unofficial) drivers, and you likely won't be able to have a display on your host.

 

As for GPU passthrough, any should do.

Ok, thx. I do not wish to share GPUs between VMs for now.
