At that price point, you have to make compromises. That monitor uses a last-gen VA panel, and so is going to have some degree of dark-level smearing - its motion performance isn't going to be amazing. However, since you'll be gaming using an APU, it isn't like you're going to be hitting 144fps in most games anyway. On the plus side, you will get the nice contrast ratio afforded by a VA panel, so if you game in a darker environment, that would be a big advantage.

You are certainly getting a lot of nice features, like the nice stand and 144Hz refresh rate, but it isn't "too good to be true" given the level of panel.

Possibly. I looked for some other popular budget monitors, like the AOC 24G2, Pixio PX247, or Viotek GN24CB, but it seems like they have either gone up in price or are out of stock at the moment. There is the Pixio PX243 available for the same price, but other than supporting 165Hz, it's worse than the Samsung G302 in other aspects. I think I'd take the G302 over the PX243.

The AOC 24G2 is nicer than the Samsung G302 in terms of its panel quality - the screen itself will have better color accuracy, better motion compliance (less ghosting), and wouldn't suffer from dark-level smearing. Its stand doesn't seem to be as nice as the Samsung one, and the contrast ratio will be worse, but overall it is an improvement even if the spec list doesn't show it. I would've recommended it over the Samsung model if the price were similar, but I didn't feel like asking you to increase your budget by 30% for it. If you are willing to step up to it, I think it would be a good monitor, but if you're on a tight budget, it isn't like the Samsung G302 is going to be awful.

That said, I hope you bought that G302 yesterday, because it looks like the price went up. In that case, the AOC 24G2 is probably the way to go after all if you can get the money for it.
