Loudspeaker construction / salvaging

As I might have said before I'm constructing a loudspeaker with some stuff I got and now I managed to find crossovers, they were previously in a car so don't know how that would work (if it even would work due to ohm difference). If that doesn't work, could I just salvage another random loudspeaker that is 8ohm?

Oh right there is kinda 2 questions, would these filters from the car work and if not, can I salvage another loudspeaker for a filter?

Both i would guess yes.

Even if the impedance would be different it should still somewhat work.
As long as you dont push more Watts trough them then they can handle it will be fine.

Sorry for this dumb question but how would I know what watt they can handle?

Easiest is to know Wattage of the speaker they came out of.
But if you just test them on a (not huge power) amp on lower volumes, it should be fine.

 

Harder way is to identify the components themselves and check their specs, if you cannot just do it for the whole board.

You're welcome, just dont take my words for the absolute truth.  

There's also a lot of info about these things.
One could also easily make one themselves once the right components are sourced.

Yeah my plan was to use some stuff I got for free to make better speakers at home / music speakers

@HanZie82Hey idk if you know about this but I found a speaker but instead of a filter it just had a resistor how does this work? could I do the same in my setup or is this different?
