Hi there,

I use over 20 different laptops and need an OS which can seamlessly work with all the others. I use all the laptops for the same purpose studying and work. It needs easy file transfer and apps to update and maybe be able to work seemlessly with my android phone but that is not a biggy. Hope this is not toomuch to ask.

Dillon

Sounds more like you need a NAS and to back up your Windows profile to your NAS or somewhere, so  each time you login, your profile is sync'ed with the NAS copy.

I just don't buy the "i use over 20" ... I would guess you're either some teacher or someone that has to set up something for a school, or you're looking for some other scheme to use the same os on 20 computers and not buy windows license.

Short answer… no.

Longer answer, syncthing is a solid option to sync files across devices, but you ideally would need 1 device to be always on to act as the “hub”. That said, 20 devices isn’t really something this is built for. Theoretically things will not get out of time sync (which would mangle files and mess up sync), but again, 20 devices is sort of a lot, and if you are actually using 20 devices… stop using 20 devices. Besides that being TERRIBLE from a human efficiency standpoint, it’s just as terrible of a waste of resources and electronics for the planet.

I'm with @mariushmsomething here doesn't add up.
No one person legitimately uses 20 laptops, let alone use them efficiently in any way.

For file access / sharing:  a NAS or online file access is the way to go.

I use all those devices at my workplace not a school (not aloud near children) and i probably will fix my nas

Okay, so let me try this a different way:

You've asked a question that is so non-specific that nobody can give you a good answer.

You want some variety of syncing across 20+ computers, whatever that's supposed to mean.

You need to give a lot more detail on what you're actually trying to accomplish if you want a better answer than you've gotten.

You're essentially looking for an enterprise like solution with this many devices and controls you want.

This isn't an easy thing.

at the bare minimum. Use a cloud service that automatically syncs a set of folders with your profiles to every device. But if you're looking to truly unify the experience so that settings, configurations, files, etc always follow you no matter which device you've got? You're lookin at basically system administration job with far more complicated technology.

now, if you want to go really over-the-top complicated. Turn those laptosp into thin-clients with no real local os/files, and have them connect to their own Virtual Desktops on a central server. Your virtual desktop stays active and running on a server all the time, you're just changing the terminal location where you're connected from.
