I saw this used working GTX 1060 online for sale, relatively lower priced than other used GTX 1060s, the catch is, the pictures provided shows that it is dusty and contains rusts on its screws.
the guy has legit a profile and i have talked to him, he is nice and willing to give personal warranty for 3 days to test the card out.

would you personally buy it and clean it?

How cheap is it? If it's not going to be a collected item slight rusts and some dust wouldnt stop it from lasting its useful days.

Never know, person could be a smoker. A quick re-thermal, blow out dust, good as new. That’s why tech is more reliable than cars. VHS still works!  Go for it

I would at least try to see if it works before buying. Load GPU-Z and see if it's identified as legit, and if the seller and you have time for it run a short benchmark. If you buy before seeing it working and it doesn't work, the seller could still ignore you even though they say they give you a few days warranty.

Once you've seen it working I would definitely buy it, clean it and maybe also replace thermal paste (warranty is probably void anyway).

One thing to check is if it's 3gb or 6gb. If it's 3gb and the others are 6gb that's why it's cheaper. The 6gb one is about 10% faster.

Yeah, I assume you reside in Bahrain. That makes it more difficult to suggest good options.

Not as bad as you’d think/see. There’s a “grommet” around a PCB so screws and such don’t mess it up.  If the rust is THAT bad… never seen it?

Better yet, copper does oxidize. If it’s green I think that means water intrusion. Pretty darn sure, lots of WC’ing

That's cheap even in the US, just see if it works and buy it if it does. It probably needs repasting on top of cleaning so expect some work to be put into it, especially if the screws are rusted inside you will need to replace them as well.

You could estimate the level of corrosion to the components by looking at the solder points, as long as those are still intact the rest will be fine.

Well said.

and just the same, I agree. Anytime I get a new or used part I always take it apart lol.  Just cause if I’m gonna go thru all the trouble (going to work, saving up, researching and so on) plus installing it - do it right or dont bother

it’ll only take an hour or so, maybe less. Grab a screwdriver, flashlight (optional but recommended), and thermal paste (pads too if u have some, not necessary but a bonus).  You’ll figure it out. What u put into it is what you’ll get out of it - do it right the first time and that’s one less thing u gotta worry about

^flashlight is for finding fan headers or something u missed. Last thing u wanna look for on an operating room table lol
