Hi guys,

I am looking into purchasing a Corsair H100i however my current CPU cooler's backplate is held to the rear of the motherboard with what seems to be double sided tape.

What would be the safest method to remove the plate? I read about using isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the material or using a hair dryer to soften it and make it easier to remove. I am still, however, very nervous about damaging my board in some way.

Here are some pictures to maybe get a better understanding of my situation.

Any advice?

Thanks!

A. Backplate should never be stuck like that o.0

I suggest using a hair dryer or similar to warm the plate up, this will make the adhesive warm up and aid freeing the damn thing.

I am using an ASRock P67 Extreme 6 and it was built to my specification by a PC Building company in my country (Ireland)

Is the current cooler an Antec AIO? I know they used adhesive backplates.

Heat it up and slowly lift it off.

Then use alcohol to clean the gunk.
