So I got a prebuilt HP Omen a while back and it crashes any time I do something graphically intensive. I was hoping that it would be a power supply issue as a 500 watt PSU seemed underpowered, so I upgraded to a 650 watt Bronze PSU from EVGA, and the problem persists. could it be dirty power? I do live in an older home that was mildly renovated by a rental company and they seem to have cut a lot of corners.

Here are my specs:

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

16 GB of RAM

RTX 2060

Its not impossible but I would consider other things first. CPU, RAM and even the GPU itself can be suspect. When does this happen?

While rendering video or doing complex 3d designs in cadd/moving around quickly inside of the cadd software. Generally speaking when the gpu needs more power.

And instead bringing the prebuilt back to HP, you know, to get warranty, the whole reason you would get a prebuilt over a custom PC, you got a new PSU instead?

For all we know your GPU might be broken, and crashes at higher workloads.

Just bring it back to HP, say that it crashes every time you open a game, and let them give you a new one.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

@Origami Cactus It was a refurbished computer from microcenter. The warranty had run out by the time the symptoms showed themselves as I didn't have any video work at the time. The reason I purchased the prebuilt was because the entire computer was $900 and at the time RTX 2060's were going for $700, seemed like a no brainer. you are welcome.

If you think it is dirty power, you could get your computer and try it at someone else's house, but the rtx 2060s had a very high chance of VRM failure, so that is why it would have better to take it back, but you are out of warranty, now I know.

So try it in another house, or the card in another PC, but the high chance is that the VRM's on the card itself is toast.
