Totally up to you mate. According to reports and other info it looks to only have a 100MHz bump in performance. What I personally would like to see is an Intel stock 4GHz CPU. That's probably wishful thinking though.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Then wat are the differences?

It's new. It's not old. It's Devil's Canyon. It's not [insert older codename].

Then wat are the differences?

just some more OC ability, but still moslty dependent on the chip, so a 4790k could be slower than your 4770k

"in theory" better OC ability, not because of the chip, but the TIM I believe has been "non toothpasted" lol

The only difference I've seen so far, is updated tim + 100 mhz more  @OP

No point, I have a 2600K and even I wouldn't really benefit with the upgrade. If you're happy with you current build why change it just so it's "New"

They upgraded their 22nm wafers so the quality control would get better and the result would be that you get less dead chips is cost effective for them. Not that I have the numbers but their current 22nm wafers produces a shitload more dead chips than their 32nm ones.

Unless you play gpu bound games, you shouldn't be even following news regarding DC. If they all do 5GHz with 1.3-1.4V that sounds really interesting to me because all of my games are relying on IPC.

I kind of disagree with what everyone is saying.  Granted, I'm sure they have twice as much experience as me.  But, if I were you what it would come down to is if you want to overclock and your current chip wasn't able to overclock well.  I'd way to make sure what they say is true and that you'll be able to overclock these more or with a higher percentage of success.  If none of that applies to you then probably not.

I think it all depends on your needs or wants.

Haha, well I think it'd be a welcomed CPU because if the base clock was 4GHz then imagine an unlocked 4GHz CPU. We could possibly see a stable 5GHz OC and for many people this would fuel and add to their bragging rights :P.
