GTX 680?

Tea1337

I am saving for my new system and I plan to have it built by mid-end of may. As of now I have planned to get a GTX 760, but I have found cards on ebay like the GTX 680 that will give me much more power over the 760 for just $10 more.  here is the link to one of the cards I found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N680GTX-PM2D2GD5-nVidia-GTX680-256-bit-GDDR5-PCI-Express-3-0-SLI-/351051389840?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item51bc4b1b90 Is a card like that still worth it? Seeing that the 800 series wont be coming until Q4...

Since it is the blower cooler I will probably get a 240mm rad and watercool the GPU it's self since it gets REALLY hot here in the summer, and I don't want to overheat anything.

EDIT: I can get a 770 if I can get $30-40 more out of my parents on my birthday

Take a look at the shipping and import costs.

680/770 is still a very solid card. I'd rather say spend the extra money for a waterblock on a better gpu in the first place, maybe you can get a 780 on the cheap somewhere. but even if not, that 680 is a nice deal.

I would try for a 780, but I wont be able to spend more than $270 on the card, and the newest card for that price is the 760

I won't have $400+ to spend on it, the 680 is in my budget of $270 allowing me to get a better performing card for the same price

Well than i'm gonna say go 680. If you could though try to raise your budget a bit and get the 770.

Out of my price range, that's why I said I can get the 680 and gain performance without spending more

I mean basically the 770 and 680 are the same GPU core. You just lose some newer technologies such as G-Sync. Personally budget wise i'd recommend it. As it's still a pretty rockin' card. I recommend it over the 760.

Also OP. Instead of watercooling the card with a crap G10, Get a nice non reference card. If you look a little harder you'll find a good one within your budget.

I was going to go with a waterblock, but that would be a month or so after. I am going to try to get more money out of everyone on my birthday and see if I can't get a 770

770 has faster memory and higher clocks though, of course the latter can be achieved on the 680 with some overclocking

I have a 680, flashed my Bios to basically represent a 770 and unlocked GPU boost 2.0 :D currently running core clock 1241 and mem clock 3702 (7400)

you can achieve both with ease on a 680.

If you can overclock the memory a full 1000Mhz it will be on par with the 770, idk how much the 680 can overclock, but that is a longggg way to go on the memory, and my 770 can put another 500mhz on top of that so its 1.5Ghz faster than the 680

Where I live the r9 280x is £30 less than the 770, you might be able to find one within your price range :)

so you go up to 7500? I'm on 7400 atm and can take it even higher but not done testing stability above this point yet.
