even though i have unallocated space , extend volume is grayed for d drive?

I don't see a D drive, do you mean the X drive?

 

The space has to be on the right of the partition to extend it. Tools like gparted in linux can move the partition so you can do this.

Should be because free space is not adjacent to the drive, you have to use some specialized software like AOMEI to do that

Use minitool partition wizard. Windows' own disk manager is totally useless.
