Hi everyone

I am looking for a solution preferably a peripheral based one for a specific problem.

The problem is the result of working in a Controlled space with managed computers

I routinely have to enter repetitive data in this space and can't use keyboards or mice that use 3rd party software or drivers nor can I install any type of software or even request it which really sucks.

Does any one here know if there is a keyboard or mouse with extra keys with onboard memory and hardware based macro recording ie. Record and create the macro on the device while also not installing any new drivers as in utilizing windows keyboard and mouse drivers?

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Mostly like that but one thing I haven't seen yet in the video as I am being harrased by a tiny human is if it notes weather or not the macros can be edited on the fly and more importantly does it exclusively utilize windows keyboard drivers? I realize it clearly isn't installing something like razer synapse but do arduinos require a different driver or will they utilize windows drivers by default? Because if it even for a second flags a different driver I would get flagged and have some heavy repercussions, thankfully I have a test bed computer to check if it would flag that is off the network

If set up properly (i think, not made one myself) it uses the regular Keyboard-HID USB standard.
Which would be jsut like a regular keyboard.

Many keyboards with customizable firmware like QMK have on-board memory and ability to create macros.

Basically you can set up your kb like a macropad and have layers upon layers of macros of you wish so.

They need no special drivers or utilities.

You can use software for graphical simplicity, but as I said - not required.

Some can have on-board macro recording, other need you to manually edit firmware file in text editor, web tool, or other software.

For example: Kinesis kbs (proprietary firmware, I believe) and OLKB kbs (QMK firmware).

Edit: while something like Logitech requires you to initially use their software (GHub) to customize, then you don’t need it. However, such big brand products have limited customizability in comparison with the aforementioned.
