I will be travelling next week, and I need to remote desktop into my machine. What laptop should I look at? I am not interested in running anything on the laptop other than remote desktop software (TeamViewer, Parsec, Chrome Remote Desktop, etc.). I am mainly looking for a nice screen, a nice keyboard, and good battery life.

I think i wouldn't invest too much, since only for remote, you don't need much performance.

Maybe an older Thinkpad T460, HP Elitebook 845 G3 or something like that. Refurbished maybe 250 bucks.

Important: 1080p Screen (768p and 900p were also common back then) and SSD. 8gb Ram is enough. They usually have 256gb SSD and 8gb Ram.

Dual Core should be fine, but you might need a new battery.

A bit newer for maybe 500-600 bucks refurbished: Thinkpad T480 / T480s, or Elitebook G5 series. They come with Intel 8th Gen, first one to have 4 Cores and oldest one to fully support Windows 11. But that's kinda Overkill for only Remote.

My Choice would be an older Thinkpad. They are built like Tanks, are well known for the best Keyboards, and the 1080p Screens are decent for the Pricerange.

Thank you. I found a refurbished ThinkPad X280 for $300. It has a i5-8250U and 8GB RAM, I guess that would be enough?
