Open-Source programmable, schedulable audio recorder?

Hey,

I have a few audio recordings to do every week at the same times, and I want to automate them.

Right now I'm using Messer ( https://messer.aerolit.pl/ ) but it's a bit old, rough around  the edges, and not too convenient as I have to create the sessions one-by-one each week, and still, it has some annoying, unique quirks that I have to keep in mind all the time.

Is there an open-source solution for this, or do I need a paid software? If so, which one do you recommend?

Are you recording a radio stream?

Use something like arecord and a cron scheduler? Setup a raspberry pi and plug in a recording device, save the file somewhere remote for easy access later.

They're using windows not linux.

I'm not recording a radio stream, but regular public events through an external audio interface
