USB 3 Expansion Card

I'm looking at something like this to upgrade my home server.  My home server has an older motherboard that only has USB 2.0 on-board.  It started as an old HP Pavilion tower where I've upgraded the CPU, RAM, power supply, case, network card, etc.  In terms of CPU and memory performance, everything is fine, but my external "off-site" backup drives that I bring in and sync once a month are USB 3 capable, so I'd like to add an expansion card to take more advantage of the available speed and decrease the amount of time it takes to sync backups.

 

But, I'm not sure what would be the best bang for the buck.  I've read a couple reviews of various cards and one reviewer said theirs literally caught fire inside their system, so I'm wondering if any of you have purchased something similar in the past that you've had good luck with.  There are only two drives that get connected at any one time, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of extra ports, just in case.

As long as the PCI slot fits it should be fine.

 

Often the PCI-E X16 slot is Locked to be only for the GPU, meaning the slot cannot work with any other card other than a GPU.
