I5 10400f 80c temperature at full load (dangerous)?

Go to solution Solved by Pixelfie,

Nope, that's normal for a stock cooler. I ran my 10400F with stock cooler for a while too and it got similar temps. Then I upgraded to a Hyper 212 and now it's 70 under load, but much quieter

Hi, so I bough the cpu yesterday, had difficulty installing the stock cooler but eventually it worked (installed it twice to work). So idle temp is about 25c but under load it goes really high, like 70-80.

Should I reapply thermal paste cuz I suspect it got affected by high temp of cpu after 1st attempt.

Yea the noise is so high. Thanks. Btw is it normal to get 100% utilization?

25c idle temp? Damn, I'm jealous, my 5900X idles at 38C-42C and pushes 86C with PBO enabled. I think your i5 is doing just fine, as others have said. 100% utilization in gaming usually means your CPU is struggling to keep up with the GPU.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

no in game its 50-70% but when installing a big app it goes to 100

I don't see occasional 100% utilization as being a big deal. If that's the only time it's hitting 100% I wouldn't worry too much, unless it's overheating to the point of throttling.
