Just buy a used 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th gen optiplex and shove an extra stick for dual channel

Dont bother with going for a new system unless you can get a cheap 10th, 11th, or even 12th gen i3 + a cheapo h610, a pathetic pentium wont do

yeah but building is fun

I would have suggested to repurpose an old Android Phone as a Minecraft Server, but since you're bound to Windows, just get a used Office PC (Dell Optiplex or Lenovo ThinkCentre) and it will serve you well. You don't need to build a machine just to host a Minecraft Server for a few people.

NZXT S340 | Ryzen 7 5900X | B550 AORUS PRO V2 | TridentZ RGB 2x8GB 3200 | RTX 4070
Nintendo Switch (2x), Nintendo *New* 3DS, PSP-1000, PSP-2000 (Crisis Core Limited Edition)

MacBook Pro 14 (2021), 16GB RAM, 512GB ROM

i'm not too familiar with bedrock server requirements, but a second hand dell optiplex or HP prodesk/elitedesk is really the way to go here. they're compact, more reliable than people give them credit for, and dirt cheap.

just throw in an SSD and throw it in a clouset.

EDIT: PS: just because i'm making it a personal rule to mention this every time: only home-host for your direct friends and people you can generally trust. anything that is open to 'friends of friends of friends' or just straight up public belongs in a datacenter.

I second that.

Believe me, just go with an old dell optiplex, for $300 you may even get one with an i7-4770 if you are lucky, and that will smoke a new pentium. get that and throw in a cheap 120gb ssd and you are set.

Or you could use this

Quick google search of "minecraft bedrock server host online". Less hassle, less downtime, probably more reliable. Split the cost among your friends and its only gonna be a couple bucks a month.

Self hosting is good when you already have a 24/7 server running and just add a docker or VM to it, or if you already have an old PC lying around collecting dust. Buying parts to build one especially brand new parts isn't economic.
