Trouble in connecting a 240hz monitor to a laptop

knapp

Hello everyone. I'm looking to buy a 240hz monitor, which in this case is this one: https://eu.aoc.com/en/gaming/products/monitors/c27g2zu-bk ; which has a display port 1.2 and I did some research about it because i'd like to connect it to my laptop (https://altex.ro/laptop-gaming-asus-tuf-f15-fx506lu-hn124-intel-core-i7-10870h-pana-la-5-0ghz-15-6-full-hd-16gb-ssd-512gb-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1660ti-6gb-free-dos-negru/cpd/LAPFX506LUHN124/#additional), which also has a mini display port (the usb-c one) 1.4... I am wondering if i could connect these two with a miniDP to DP cable (+an adapter miniDP -> usb c), getting the best out of it, i mean the 240hz refresh rate (for instance, at a resolution of 1080p). Is this possible even if my laptop has a miniDP (usb-c) 1.4 and the monitor has DP 1.2?

How should I do it properly?
1. Buying an usb-c to DP 1.4 cable; will it work properly?

2. Buying a miniDP to DP 1.4 cable and an adapter for miniDP to usb-c (to connect to the laptop)
Thank y'all in advance!

Assuming the ports used support at least DisplayPort 1.2 and the cable used supports HBR2, you should be able to drive that monitor at a resolution of 1920x1080 and a refresh rate of 240Hz. See the following thread for more details:

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month
Laptop: Dell XPS 15 9560 (the real 15" MacBook Pro that Apple didn't make) Tablet: iPad Mini 5 | Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 10.1
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

aight. thanks your response! therefore, using a usb-c (laptop) to DP 1.4 (monitor) cable is still an available option?
