Upgrade form 2080ti

Ebony Falcon

Hi all, currently have a ftw3 2080ti

overclocked it’s near enough a stock fe 3080 performance.

is it worth upgrading next release as I have a 8700k 5ghz  and play at 1440p

By next release do you mean RTX 40-series and whatever AMD's successor to RX 6000 series is?

Nobody knows how those cards perform or what they will cost so we can't say.

I suspect your CPU might start to show it's age before you need to replace the 2080 ti.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

If you're hitting your FPS target with a graphical quality you're happy with then it doesn't make sense to upgrade.

if you're not, then upgrade.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Do u feel like you need to replace it? It seems like it works perfectly fine for you.

And as Middcore said, no one knows how the new cards will perform and how much they will cost.

That's an impressive Turing OC if you're able to get 20% more performance out of it. You have a good card, and honestly, unless you're really desperate for high framerates in AAA titles, you're probably set for the next year or two. I don't foresee a game coming out where your 2080Ti won't reach 60fps at 1440p High/Ultra for a while.

Whether or not you need more CPU performance when you're playing at 1440p will depend on what games you're playing and what framerate you're targeting.

To be fair most reviews use a fe 2080ti to compare so it’s 10 percent faster out the box and 10 percent again with the oc from original fps

Ok my question is then can my cpu handle anything more powerful

That's completely dependent on the game.

In theory, at 5GHz, your 8700K could beat my Ryzen 9 5900X in Red Dead Redemption 2, because Intel performs better in that title and it doesn't really use that many cores. However, during a Battlefield 2042 128-player match, my 5900X would perform way better in comparison, especially for the lows.

In the case of the former, you probably wouldn't benefit much from a CPU upgrade, but for the latter, you would.
