Monitor suggestions for gaming in the dark

YGFJoao

I don't know a lot about monitors but I want to get a 27" 1440p 144hz (at least) monitor with a low response time for a good price. I mostly game in the dark so I would like the contrast on it to be good and for it to have g-sync compatibility. Give me some suggestions especially if you have played on a monitor that you really liked and it had the features that I am looking for. (preferably under $800)

I would recommend VA over IPS in this case simply because the blacks are much better on VA. In this case I'd probably get something like an Odyssey G7, which is a great monitor. Some other good options are the Gigabyte G27QC and AOC CQ27G2, if you get one of these you could actually get 2 monitors if you're interested in that. They are all Freesync monitors, but all Freesync monitors are compatible with G-Sync so that's not an issue.

Take your pick:

Just get a cheap 1440p/VA panel to last you until OLED monitors become mainstream

I don't recommend gaming in the dark.  If you don't believe me, try watching a 40" or so TV in a pitch black room.  Eyestrain for days.  (bigger TV's and projectors tend to toss a bit more ambient light around--which makes the strain somewhat less).

I recommend these guys.  I'm using 2 of their stuffs as I type.

most cheap VA would do, or you can just roll the dice on getting a good G7 out of the box

the AW3423 would be perfect but it's 1300usd
