Hi there!

so yesterday i picked up a MSI rtx 2060 gaming z and i ran a heaven benchmark with it and i realised that i think that it is underperforming. I got around 70 fps on 1080p max settings. Is this normal because my old gpu taht was a gtx 1060 kinda performed the same and i see people online hitting around 100fps so iam kinda worried.

i3-10105F

gigabyte motherboard

16gb ddr4 2400 (max for my cpu)

650w psu from cooler master

temps are good

quick note : msi overclocks these 2060's

pls help me iam worried....ty

The CPU is a bit of a limit with the 4 cores.

What motherboard? And is the ram 1x16GB?  Or 2x8GB

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I agree with @191x7here that you might be CPU limited. Try monitoring the CPU per-core usage while running the benchmark to see.

Also. Heaven is quite old and not that useful as a benchmark anymore. Try something like 3DMark in stead

And also check the temps.

hi guys, my ram is 2x8 from corsair and my motherboard is gigabyte s2h. My temps are fine dont worry its not thermal throttling.

Make sure to use the quote button so we can see your responses

The B460 S2H would support 2666MHz ram for your i3, or even 2933 if you had an i7 or i9, but getting 2666MHz wouldn't boost performance too much over 2400

As mentioned before, the CPU is not that powerful, so it could be holding back performance a little. Although, 1080p max is what you said you were using for the benchmark, an average of 70 isn't super low.

I would check in some games instead of benchmarks to see if your experience is improved.

Yeah I still use Heaven sometimes just to put some load on a system and leave it running for a while as a basic stability test but as an actual performance yardstick it's outdated.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
