R5 3600 Overheating

Hi guys,

New to the forum but cannot find an answer to my problem anywhere so thought I'd give it a try,

My pc has been overheating for about 2 weeks now hitting around 85-90 on idle under less than 10% load I'm really at a loss now, my cpu is a R53600 and it's being cooled by MSI Mag coreliquid 360r so there's no way it should be running even close to that hot, used to sit around 40 degrees while idle and would very rarely break 65 under load, I have already tried replacing thermal paste, this temporarily soothed the problem however it came back with a vengeance the following day, according to software and bios pump is still working, and computer despite heat never shuts down, I unattached the pump header temporarily and the pc shut down within minutes. I got so desperate I even did a fresh install of windows and still no luck. Temperature has been checked in bios, icue, hwifo64 and msi centre.

EDIT 1: Forgot to mention no overclock on the cpu just running base and using arctic silver thermal paste

You can probably apply for the recall or RMA it.

Do you have an alternative cooler you can use?

I have the stock cooler lying around so I'll try and replace and see if that fixes it. I also just used the online check for whether my S/n was eligible for rma and it wasn't but not sure if that was due to regional issues or not

i would contact msi support and see if you can still get an rma for it, chances are that either way, it's their defect.

You can always RMA it under warranty at the store you've bought it from.

Yeah, do not buy those AIOs, i have seen a lot of their pumps die, since they came out, RMA it, adn buy a better AIO (which is stupid for a 3600, but do what you want with your c)

Thanks everyone for the help replaced cooler with stock wraith stealth temps back nice and happy, I know an aio is dumb for that chip but you know more for the aesthetic and upgrade path than anything else, in the process of RMAing it just wanted to thank everyone again for the support of been banging my head against the wall for days!!!
